The Tasker AI Generator is an artificial intelligence-powered feature introduced in Tasker 6.5.4 beta that enables users to create Tasker projects, profiles, tasks, and widgets using natural language prompts. Rather than manually configuring automation logic, users can describe the desired behavior in plain language and have Tasker generate the corresponding automation.
The Tasker AI Generator translates user prompts into importable Tasker configurations. Depending on the request, it can generate a single task, a profile with triggers, or a complete project. The system can also request additional information from the user when a prompt lacks sufficient detail to create a working automation.
The feature is accessible through a dedicated AI interface within Tasker and is designed to reduce the learning curve associated with creating complex automations.
Tasker AI Generator supports multiple AI providers. As of the 6.5 release series, users can choose between:
Google Gemini
OpenRouter-supported models
Provider selection is available in the AI Generator settings.
The AI Generator includes the following capabilities:
Generate Tasks, Profiles, and Projects from natural language descriptions.
Create Widget v2 widgets through AI prompts.
Interpret exported Tasker descriptions and convert them into importable configurations.
Troubleshoot generated projects after import.
Save and resume AI conversations.
Edit previously generated automations through follow-up instructions.
Export Tasker's AI system instructions for use with external AI tools.
In Tasker 6.5.5 beta, the AI Generator gained the ability to create Widget v2 widgets. Users can describe the desired appearance and functionality of a widget, and Tasker generates the widget layout, update logic, refresh intervals, and associated automation tasks.
Generated automations can be refined through an ongoing conversation with the AI. Subsequent requests modify existing generated projects while preserving project names, allowing updated versions to overwrite previous imports. Conversations are stored locally and can be revisited, edited, copied, or cleared.
A user may enter a prompt such as:
Show me a countdown in my notifications and then play a sound.
The AI Generator may request additional information, such as the starting number for the countdown, before generating a working Tasker configuration.
