Tasker can be integrated with multiple voice assistants to automate tasks using voice commands. Two of the most primary integrations are:
Previously, Joao Dias (joaomgcd)—the developer of Tasker—offered advanced Google Assistant integration through the AutoVoice plugin via Google’s Conversational Actions API. However, Google deprecated Conversational Actions on June 13, 2023.
Following this deprecation, Tasker can still integrate with Google Assistant using standard Android App Actions, though this method has notable limitations:
Language Support: Restricted primarily to US English.
Local Execution: Commands only work directly on the local Android device (not via smart speakers or secondary devices).
Command Syntax: Voice commands require rigid formatting (e.g., "Run XYZ in Tasker" or "Run XYZ with {%par1} and {%par2} in Tasker"), which can feel unnatural for routine tasks.
Tasker can be integrated with Amazon Alexa through the AutoVoice plugin. By enabling the AutoVoice Alexa Skill and setting up an AutoVoice account, you can create custom voice commands or trigger Tasker profiles directly through Alexa-enabled devices (such as Echo speakers) and the Alexa app.
ChatGPT can be easily integrated with Tasker via Open AI API calls using the HTTP Request action in Tasker, but the catch is that OpenAI API is a paid service, meaning you have to buy credits to use it.
